World Serious. ROCKY! ROCKY! Kick! Vols.Kick!

Yankees vs. Phillies. Lee vs. Sabathita. ARod vs. RHow. Rivera v. Lidge. Big Apple vs. City of Brotherly Love. Who you got? I'm pulling for the Phils, but I like the Yanks in 6. Phillies are really the only National League team to match the Yanks in power and pitching. Should be a close.

Raquel aka Rocky, RS Mell, Kelly, Reeekell, Kell, Rock smell, etc., was in action this past Sunday as the Mountain Brook Gymnastics squad participated in the Pirates of the Cahaba meet. Raquel, performing at level 4, competed in four different exercises. She finished fifth overall for her level. We are very proud of her. Here are some photos from the day.

Well, it took some divine intervention, plus Mt. Cody, for the Crimson Tide to defeat the Vols this past weekend. Somebody must have been watching from above because the Monte Kiffin sure gave the Tide all they could handle.

Sid's first game is this Thursday against Shades Mountain Christian, a team they easily beat twice last year. We do not think it will be a cakewalk this year. Sid is pumped. Stay tuned ....

Emmy's practices begin in a few weeks. Meanwhile, she is dancing up a storm. Both girls are getting ready for the Winter recital in early December.

Trying to get through the week,

GAME DAY!!! UD #34. The Pack. Yanks are coming! Hoopage.

GAME DAY !!!!

From Richmond to Birmingham to all over the airwaves, Bama slugged it out Saturday night with that stubborn band of Spurrier's South Carolina Gamecocks. Dare I say Mark Ingram for Heisman? Their efforts paid off in the win, as the Tide was voted to No. 1 in the AP polls and second in the BCS standings this afternoon. Still a long way to go. Guess who is donning the elephant mask below??? (One hint, it rhymes with "Robert.")

UD celebrated his 34th birthday with a game time party. Highlights included a wings eating contest won by BJC. Siddy finished second followed by UD in a distant third.

Mack, Ethan and Jimmy had a special treat this weekend. They were guests of Bart Starr in Green Bay as the Pack shutout the Detroit Lions. Jimmy, in the cheese hat below, Ethan and Mack had excellent seats for the exciting game. Can't wait to hear their stories.

Finally. Finally. Finally. Hoops season is upon us. Sid had tryouts and practices for the 7th-8th grade Altamont team this week. Sid and Jessye are the only two returning starters. Laure and Walker are also coming back to help defend last year's undefeated, championship team. Won't be nearly as easy this year. However, early reports indicate that two seventh graders joining the team are strong inside the paint. Hope Laure's injured finger (volleyball mishap) heals soon. We need her strong inside play. Games begin in a few weeks. Sid looks to improve her ball handling and leadership skills, as the competition will be improved and looking to defeat this solid group.

Emmy has signed up to play in Homewood again this fall. Not sure yet when practices begin. She is very excited about the season. I suspect she will work on her free throws and dunking skills in the preseason.

I'm sure many of you have seen this video before, but here it is again. The world's longest basketball shot: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W77uk1ejcpY&feature=player_embedded#t=19

Dexter Fowler lept over Chase Utley before sliding safely into second base during the Rockies' three-run eighth inning.

Dodgers and Yankees appear to be heading on a collision course for this year's World Series. Hope so. Seeing Torre back in the Big Apple but now wearing Dodger Blue will be a great story. Look for the Yanks to capture their 27 World Championship.

Here's a fellow who is either crazy or just stupid. (Warning: Video is not for the quesy. Bloody.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YgUiLKHAiAI

Glad to be back in the swing of things,

2009 Komen Race for the Cure

It was wet. It was chaotic. It was crowded. It was great see friends and family. Team Kate has Hope did it again! In the 2009 Komen Race for the Cure in Birmingham, TKHH was the No. 1 team for most money raised ($16k+) and largest friends/family team (133 official and about 30 unofficial members). Way to go team! Boo, Lilly, Sid and several of her eighth grade buddies covered the 5k with ease. Times improve every year.

Full report coming out next week,
